I know I've been asking about this a lot lately, but does anybody know of any portable media players that will play 24 bit lossless music without downsampling it to 16 bit? I know iPods have some programs that can play back 24 bit music, but I had heard the iPod will downsample it to 16 bit anyway, so it defeats the purpose.
Anybody know of any portable players that are somewhat affordable that can actually take advantage of 24 bit lossless music?
I'm looking for something similar to an iPod. Had heard Sansa's music players will do it, but still downsample to 16 bit.
The other question I have is if it's really worth it? I'd be listening to this mostly on a car stereo, and on the boombox I have in my house. Would I really be able to tell a noticeable difference in 24 bit vs 16 bit that I should even consider getting something that can utilize 24-bit lossless music's full quality?
