Portable hard disk

Just 2 days before i installed Ubuntu 10.10 in my W7 system, Both are working normally.

Today I connected my Western Digital 1TB Hard Drive (secured with password) to Ubuntu. Its not accessing as the drive. Only showing the WD SmartWare on desktop. In the directory, open the unlock application its showing the following error:

Archive: /media/WD SmartWare/Unlock.exe
[/media/WD SmartWare/Unlock.exe]
End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not
a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive. In the
latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on
the last disk(s) of this archive.
note: /media/WD SmartWare/Unlock.exe may be a plain executable, not an archive
zipinfo: cannot find zipfile directory in one of /media/WD SmartWare/Unlock.exe or
/media/WD SmartWare/Unlock.exe.zip, and cannot find /media/WD SmartWare/Unlock.exe.ZIP, period.

I check the WD site for driver, but i can`t find it.
Please help me!:frowning:

have you checked the HDD under Windows?

I guess, this “password protection” only works in a Windows environment. And of course, running a Windows .exe under Linux does most likely not work.
