The porn industry will say screw you to both formats and adopt Holoporn discs. :stuck_out_tongue:

it is my understanding that both the new formats are being pushed to offer better picture quality for susch as hdtv and high end plasma lcd tv’s ? and of course to try and stop piracy but what concerns me is i live in the uk and out of the hundreds of people i meet weekly through my job i hardly know of anyone having hdtv only a few with high end plasma and lcd seems to be catching on so at the end of the day dont you think more people need hd tv and the abouve mentioned to appreciate the two new formats ??? :g

HD DVD = 30 GB = less pr0n Blue Ray = 50 GB = more pr0n I pick more:p

I keep asking…will this come with scratch and sniff technology??..:B…:X

…no just wank and a packet of Kleenex… :+

“Many are watching the porn industry to see what happens.” Yeah, me too :d

“Hollywood has begun lining up on both sides of the battle as they have watched the growth of DVDs slow.” – Jeez. You can’t have perpetual growth you know. Plus the last I heard, people are buying DVDs in record numbers. Maybe growth has slowed; I haven’t seen the charts. But that doesn’t not mean it’s anywhere near stopping. If anything I think we are seeing record growth. I think the myth that porn helps decide what format wins is just a myth. The porn industry tends to follow what hits big from the mainstream Hollywood (or PC sector in the case of CD-ROMs) and then goes with it, arguably giving things a boost after the wheel has been set in motion. They never lead, though.

Thursday, November 28, 2002 Panel: DVD growth to continue Wolfgang Schlichting, IDC’s research manager of removable media, was another speaker at Sunday’s seminar. He presented a statistical analysis that determined that the DVD recorder market will grow to almost 90 million units in 2006, 50 million of which would be built in to a computer. Based on a June survey, IDC found that 8% of respondents planned to buy a DVD burner within six months, with an additional 15% planning to do so within the next year. Recording and storing home video was the No. 1 reason people wanted these devices, Schlichting said, with recording television programming coming in second. He added that respondents were not very interested in copying commercial DVDs. Danielle Levitas, director of consumer devices and services at IDC, agreed that DVD recorders would eventually replace VCRs. But she cited content protection, specifically the proposed digital broadcast flag initiatives, as a major inhibitor for consumers. “We expect fair use to win out,” Levitas said. The Recordable DVD Council has 96 member companies. An entire section of Comdex was designated the Recordable DVD Pavilion, with 32 separate companies exhibiting within it.

“We’re kind of riding it out a little further to see where the trend goes,” said Jackie Ramos No surprise to see the porn industry riding it out :stuck_out_tongue:

Ok porn in HD is nasty; please can we get some chicks who don’t have tattoos all over their f’n body? HD porn will need many 1st timers who look good in HD no older then 20 years old. All the current porn people are too old for HD. Film them as they turn 18 years old don’t get them hooked on crack till after they make some HD porn then they can do SD porn after they turn 21. Yuk

What I’d like to see rather than changing capacity is someone make a Diamond surface layered disc. Just to replace that plastic layer, that way we will never have to worry about scratches or maybe even cracks in the disc again. Plus it would be super easy to wipe dust and prints off the disc surface.

blu ray has won http://www.adultbluray.com have already about 200 movies

@ adultbluray
Dumb ass, the last post in this thread was almost 4 years ago. Thanks for the breaking news of Blu-ray winning against HD DVD. At least you didn’t have to go through the trouble of actually setting up an account to bring us this information. What a tool.
