Popups

In the last two days I have been receiving an inordinate amount of pop-ups, most are from, http://popunder.paypopup.com/close.php, and seems to originate from Windows Explorer, I haven’t added any new programs, anyone had this problem? If not, any ideas how to cure this problem, it’s extremely annoying and has caused me to lose an exiting program to delete it.

Don’t you use the Popup BLOCKER that is in Explorer 7 ?, some firwalls have a popup blocker also.
you can also make changes to the popup blocker setting on the Privacy tab in Internet option properties

seems to originate from Windows Explorer

So do the popups occur when you are not browsing(but connected to the inernet)?
Or did you mean Internet Explorer?
Sorry, but from reading your post, your situation is still not clear to me.:flower:

I would use something like host blocker from

http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm

to kill those nasty popsup…also if your into it you can type the name of the pop site ie

127.0.0.1 xxx.xxx.xxx and anytime it tries to go there or load it will be stopped by the host file. But when you do that make sure you set your host file to read only to give it a extra protection. Ever since I used the host blocker I been able to surft the net and go places I want to go without advertisements pops by the site.

The popup locker does no good.

That’s because you are infected, You have to remove the crap that’s allowing the pop-ups to happen.

Run a virus scan

Run Spybot Search and Destroy.

and/or

Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware.

Clean your system.

Tip for ya, avoid installing 3rd party crap that comes in software installations. Example: Toolbars.

I don’t know if you like FireFox or not, but I would install that which comes with a pop blocker. Then for a add-on program use No Script which is software that allows you to control scripts that run on the page. Once you have figured out how to use No Script in conjunction with FireFox you should never see another pop-up.

If you don’t want to use FireFox then clean the junk off you system, then use a pop-up blocker with IE.

:cool::cool:

Follow platinumsword advise on scanning and system cleaning, and the tip on toolbars is sound advise also…3rd party junk leds to trouble in most cases
