Hi guys,

Please Help!

Recently I got an internal Nec 3520 DVD DualWR and after I installed this guy, Nero is giving me reading errors for both drives. So, none of them is working now. I tried (to set) everything I knew but I’m overwhelmed. Below is nero info toll:

Remove ALL burn applications.

Boot into BIOS and verify that all hard drives and optical drives are seen and set to use AUTO detection. Save and exit. Reboot and go to Device Manager and remove the Primary and Secondary IDE channels. Reboot and verify that devices 0 and 1 in Primary and Secondary IDE channels are set to use DMA mode. Save and Reboot. Verify that all devices connected to Primary and Secondary IDE channels are running in DMA mode. Make sure the jumpers on the hardware are set to Cable Select OR Master/Slave if there are two devices connected to the IDE channel.

Now reload Nero. Reseat all connectors on IDE cables. Retest.

#3

furballi,thanks 4 response, I appreciate!

I’ll try what you said and I’d let you know what’s the result.

#4

Hey furbali…

Did you notice that on the info tool that it’s seeing the 3520 as a CD-Rom:confused: Plus he only has Nero Aspi going. And DMA is on.

Mark

#5

Also not only re-load Nero but make sure you have all the latest updates which since mid Jan. theres been a few.

#6

Yes…hopefully, removing all the other proggies and reloading Nero and the IDE drivers will fix the problem.

#7

Thanks again guys, I really appreciated your help!

I did what furballi suggested and now Liteon_combo is working as he did before. Also I set the jumper on Cable Select for both units. The problems is with the NEC DVD_RW ND-3520A, b/c he’s not writing files bigger than 2.5Gb, is giving the reading errors. I was able to burn only 2.5 Gb of mixed media files at 2x (maximum) on Ridata DVD-R 8x .

I’m not sure what are the latest updates i should have, and ASPI present on my PC is only Nero’s ASPI.

Some suggestions?
Thank you guys!

If you can write a full 4.3GB DVD movie at 4X, then the burner is okay. Use NTFS and default settings when writing in DVD ISO mode. I would remove/reload Nero.

#9

If you want to try 4.60 ASPI you cna get it here.
http://www.cdrom-drivers.com/drivers/20/20300.htm

#10

ok,furballi thanks!

i can’t write a full 4.3GB DVD movie at 4X, because I got reading errors -I don’t know why. I was able to burn 2.3 GB at 2x, this is max. speed. The free space on HD is aprox 5 gGb. Thanks Sportfish,I would try ASPI,too.

#11

The free space is too small for windows to work effectively. Good rule is to leave about 14GB of free space. Also defrag the HD.

#12

Ok, I’ll do that.

Thanks
