New Series - TLC based Solid State Drive:
In Q3 2013, Plextor adds a new 2.5” TLC based SSD to its lineup. The new series will be available in 256 GB, 512GB, and 1 TB capacities. Combined with Plextor’s own firmware, the TLC based SSD will feature sustained random read / write speeds up to 80,000 / 72,000 IOPS as well as continuous read / write speeds up to 540 / 465 MB/s. The drive will use TLC NAND flash from Toshiba and a new 88SS9183 controller from Marvell®. The new Marvell® controller has better and stronger ECC capability that will make more efficient use of the Program/Erase cycles of TLC NAND flash. The Plextor TLC based SSD will also feature Plextor’s renowned TrueSpeed Technology to prevent drastic performance drop after intense or long-term usage. More details on availability and pricing will be announced at the Computex show this year.
