I hope we see M2 slots in desktop motherboards as well. My Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H has an mSATA port but I don’t really need it. An M2 on the other hand…

I’m sure there will be PCIE cards for M2 in desktops until that happens since (at least until now) all PCIE SSDs have been targeted at the enterprize section and have the corresponding prices.
