Plextor PX W4824 failes to write 700MB files

First of all please apologize for my poor english (French people are not known for the way they speak english)

I ran in troubles with PX W4824 when I try to write 700 MB avi files with Nero 5.5.10.50. on Verbatim Datalife Plus blank CDs…

Nero pops up a window saying that the CD does not have enough free space ??? Even if the CD is shown by Nero to be a 703 MB free CD and that the project is 698MB large ???

Seen with 5 different files (~700 MB each). I can burn smaller files ( 690 MB files) but no larger ones.

Is there any solution to this problem or is there anyone here who have seen it before ?

thanks to all

ok gonna try an older one…

works right with 5.5.10.42 but hard to find this upgrade…

thanks for your help

I’m having the same problems with Nero 6.0.0.15 with all my drives. I haven’t installed an older Nero version yet since I can use PlexTools to burn my discs with for the time being.

You can use Nero 6.0.0.15.
There is a Update-Patch for this Prob.
“Nero v.6.0.0.15 patch
Description: This fixes the compilation problems. Which kept Nero of burning a compilation with the error message, too less space on media, though there is enough space on the media.

Dear tg0021,

The problem’s already been known, often discussed and nowadays fixed.
So, feel at home and feel free to choose whatever your heart desire.

Any of the following stuff is going to bring back your piece of mind :

nero551042.exe

Nero551050Issue5203Patch.exe

Nero60015Issue5203Patch.exe

Nero60019.exe

Nero551054.exe

Hi everyone.

I didn’t know in which forum to say my problem so I post it here! I have tried everything on the f.a.q. of this forum, I have performed all the tests (in which my writer seems to write at 24x), but it actually writes all the time on 16.1 or 16.3 for some secs.
My system is a: P3 667 MHz, 128 RAM, CHAINTECH mainboard, nVidia 2Ti, Sound Blaster 5.1, HDD WD 15 GB, Plextor PX-24/10/40x and Hitatchi GD-8000 DVD Drive. OS Windows XP Pro Service Pack 1 and for Burning Nero 6.0.0.15 and Alcohol 120% 1.4.6 build 711. I also have the prob with 700 MB compilations in Nero and though I have downloaded all the suggested patches nothing happened. The limit is 690 MB. I use 700 MB Prodisc blank cd’s.
Thanks in advance.

Forget the patches, install Nero v6.0.0.19 instead. It should fix the 700MB problem.

Though I have a 56k modem (Greece sucks!!!:a ) I will download it today and tell you at once what happened. Something that I have forgotten yesterday was that I have the writer alone (no other device on the same IDE cable) as Secondary Master. Maybe it would be better to have it as Primary Slave and as Primary Master my HDD?
Thanks

No that doesn’t make a difference, Secondary Master on its own IDE channel is even the recommended setting!

Though this massage is supposed to be in the media forum I must say that anyone who has the same recorder with me should never use prodisc blank cd-r’s! Their top speed is 16.1x though the are supposed to write even in 48x!!! I have used a blank TDK yesterday and it was written perfectly in 24.0x…
By the way Nero 6.0.0.19 did the trick for me! I wrote some 702 MB compilations yesterday.   No more problems!
Thanks again
