Plextor Premium 1 and 2 drives available

I have a stash of new, sealed in 10 pack cases, plextor premium and plextor premium 2 writers available for sale in the US.

I will sell single drives only due to the limited quantity available. I have 1 case of premium drives and a few cases of premium 2 drives available.

These drives are brand new, come with manuals, tools discs, and ide cables.

How much?

$75 each either type
$75 each either type
Sounds like a good price. Do you have any black Premium2’s?

Welcome to CDF’s by the way.

I’d like a Premium 2 please.

Thanks.

Welcome Huggy, I have 4, 2-MIC and 2-MIJ. Enjoy you have made a good choice. Please post where your drive was manufactured when you receive it. Thanks

Thank you, and I will!

This is for a friend, I have a Premium 1 myself (made in China) which I got at Micro Center some time ago. I remember they had a Plextor Premium DVD burner back then too.
I went to Fry’s and Micro Center yesterday to look around, and there are no Plextor products in either, nor could I find an external ide optical drive enclosure. I found one SATA enclosure. I guess the writing is on the wall.

I am pretty sure these drives (PP2) were made in Japan. Do you know how to tell?

The cases are clearly marked made in Japan, but hey you never really know for sure.

Huggybaby,

If I responded to your email, then I got yours and we are in contact with each other. If you didnt get a response, since I dont know your email address I will need you to resend your info to me at taddat341@yahoo.com.

Thanks

Thanks Bob, you are correct. Both the Prem1 and 2 drives were manufactured by Shinano Kenshi Co. (Plextor Japan?) in Japan.

I noted the above burn records & carefully looked at each. Then realised that really I had no clue about what was important & what was not.
For example the jitter results to me looked awful at around 8% plus in all cases.
Most had “PI Failures” & all had apparently huge “PI Errors” exceeding 20,000.
I would have thought this sort of error ridden result would impact on data retrieval & the sound of say classical music.
Obviously this is not the case so I need educating.
Can you point me please in the right direction, or perhaps briefly explain what matters & what does not, & do all diagnostics report the same?
