I have to replace an old burner, I have a Plextor 760A lying around is it a capable reader/writer? T.I.A.
This question would be best answered in the Plextor forum durkinjt, so I’m moving your thread there.

Good for reading, scanning and writing.
Very good drive
The Plextor PX-760A is one of the greatest DVD burners of ALL-TIME.
They don’t even make optical drives that good anymore.
I’ve been very happy with mine. I actually try to save it just for problematic discs and do routine ripping on another drive because I want it to last as long as possible.
While we are on the subject, I also have an Optiarc AD7203A in my garage, is it also a good drive?
Yes, but why are you asking that here?

Just a second thought, had them both in the garage and have been using Benq’s, Im trying Blu ray and the firmware for the Benq’s are too old for Blu ray burns. I tried the Plex, and it worked fine. Now I am going to try the Optiarc in another computer.
