I have a SATA Plextor 716SA optical drive and I burn a lot of stuff for the kids, and recently they were complaining that a few of my discs were skipping a lot into the disc. I've been buying the same Verbatim DVD (MCC 003) discs for at least a year now, and older discs that I burned on this same drive will play fine without skipping. Also, I did a burn of some CD ISO's onto a DVD, and Nero verification reports a ton of inconsistancies.
I did a Plextools PI/PO test and have the following results:
-------------------------------------------------------
PlexTools Professional LE V3.13 Q-Check PI/PO Test
SUM8 w/"Good Accuracy"
-------------------------------------------------------
PIF POE POF
Avg 0.84 - -
Max 12 - -
Total 14888 - 0

PlexTools Professional LE V3.13 Q-Check PI/PO Test
SUM1 w/"Good Accuracy"
-------------------------------------------------------
PIF POE POF
Avg 0.01 - -
Max 2 - -

Having so many PIF's is a problem, right?
Thanks in advance!
