Plextor 712A coming the 8th?

http://www.atacom.com :iagree: maybe next week they say 04/08/04 Now to decide if I wanna get it right off the bat or wait a couple weeks for some reviews and the price to drop.

So far my A07 has been flawless, I just like newer and faster toys to play with.

On the www.bestbuy.com website they list both the internal and external versions of the drive. It writes DVD+R media at 12x, and DVD-R media at 8x. Of course, there’s no media on the market it can write to at 12x at this time. Says they’re taking advance orders on it currently. The internal is going for $199 so it may help to push the prices down on the “old” 8x drives. Isn’t progress wonderful?

Just as with the Plextor PX-708A the PX-712A will be able to write certain media at higher speeds. The 8x Plextor DVD+R media will, for instance, work at 12x in this new Plextor drive.

Dell Home and Home office has the 712A for $189.

Looks like atacom changed the ETA to 4/28

Well according to this Plextor website it is available!

Ack! I just checked the USA plextor site and ROXIO software is included in the retail version for the 712A.

I dunno about the rest of you, but I’m holding out for the PX-712SA, that way this computer will be all SATA, no PATA whatsoever.

All the American Plextor drives are shipped with the Roxio software right? Well at least the drive does come with a copy of the PlexTools software…

AFAIK they implemented Plextools Pro’s Q-Check for DVD media with the 712A as well … nice one, Plextor !

Plextor PX-712A price in Finland 179.90 €

Roxio is so poor a software they cant even give it away!!
