Plextor 708A compatible 8x DVD+R, WHERE TO BUY?

Anyone have any quick links as to where i can find those 8x capable DVD+Rs online ?

Both the Memorex and TDK DVD+R 4x burn at 8x. I’m sure many other brands will to, but these are the two that I have tested.

The TDK 4X will definitely burn at 8X. The Memorex 4X DVD+R that I bought were total shit, 7 coasters out of 17 burns and some of the almost good burns had to be finalized with another program. Never got one 8X burn from the Memorex. I brought back a partial spindle and one full 25 spindle for credit and bought the TDK 4X DVD+R. So far 10 successful burns at 8X. I think I would buy the TDK 4X. I have burned 40 cheap CompUsa branded discs DVD+R and -R without a problem, only Memorex had problems. Staples has a 25 pack for $35 this week.

You also can try Verbatim 4x DVD+R, it can be burn at 8X.
You can find it in compUSA, or micro center.

Memorex will work only if you are lucky, get TDK or Verbatim, those will work at 8x.

Samsung 4x DVD+R works too, but they’re manufactured by Taiyo Yuden:

Where they Verbatim Datalife or Datalife Plus? I had bad luck with the Datalife and tech support verified that those are not workig well with the Plextor drive but that the Datalife Plus DID work.

What product number was the TKD DVDs?. I just got some TDK+R with a product code of DVD+RR47CCB100. But want to find out how they are working?

One more question, which program was used to burn at 8X with the TDK?

Carlos

I never know that there is anything else except DatalifePlus  burns perfect at x8 even with powerrec disabled.

The Philips 4x dvd+r burns also @ 8x

Try these discs Ritekâ„¢ DVD+R 8x

Hmm, just found out that these cheap Digital Matrix 4x DVD+R DVDs can burn at 8x, but ONLY with firmware 1.02… When i started this thread i had burned few of them at 8x with 1.02 and soon as i upgraded to 1.03 firmware burn speed went down to 4x, any option of burning at 8x dissappearred…thats why i started this topic… Then i went back to 1.02 FW and 8x burning with no errors is back !!!

so anyone who wanna save some money try thse Digital Matrix DVD+Rs~ $0.97 each !

Why do companies such as Verbatum sell media that is inferior to other makes of theirs - it seems datalife often means poor whilst datalife-plus means good to very good.

Why not sell the datalife plus and be done with it - so all customers get quality and have less bad experiences?

I can understand some third rate companies selling crap, but big names selling products they know will fail with many leading brands of cdr/dvdr recorders seems strange. Save the cost of 2 or 3 run lines, sell more of one and get happy customers.

Also, for any major brand, if the media is manufactured well within spec, why does alot of it not burn properly with writers - just what the hell is going on in the industry?

New question to an old thread: Where to buy T-Y DVD+R disks. I saw that DatalifePlus was T-Y. by the time I bought them they were MCC002. Saw G@M3FR3@K’s reference to Samsung that were clearly T-Y, I can’t find 'em. The ONLY thing I’ve found on the net is a white-printable from overseas somewhere at $106 per 50 plus justifiably high shipping. Ouch.

Please point a newb down the right path. I have 600 fuji/japans lying around from when I heard that they had moved mfg to taiwan. I’d like to build up a cache of DVD+R’s for the same reason.

I’ve searched and read 'til my eyes are bloodshot – if the answer to this question is here on the forum somewhere, I can’t find it, sorry.

WinME/bx133/twin WD 250’s/708A (just bought for $165 from Dell)

Thanx for your help

I use Plextor DVD+Rs, rated 4x but they can be burned at 8x and are TY’s.
They are easy to find here.
