Plextor 708A 4x RW vs. others

On the verge of buying a Plextor 708A as our (small business) first DVD burner for data backup.

After reading the review on the CD Freaks site, it looks like perhaps there is a performance issue burning RW at 4x. Actual performance measured 2.4x. What’s up?

Also, Plextor was recommended by a local dealer that sells them. Is there a better one out there that matches the 708A’s stated performance?

I haven’t had any problems at all writing to DVD+RW at 4x using Ricoh DRWD-4x. If the media is on the recommended list I don’t think you’ll have a problem.
