Plextor 48/24/48A Problems

Hi!
I just bought a new recorder for my pc, it’s a Plextor 48/24/48A but I’m having lot’s of problems with it :frowning:
I managed to record a couple of cd’s without big problems, but then the problems started, the recording time started to increase and I was needing 7 minutes to record 700MB at 48x!!! I foundd out the problem, the drive tranfer mode was set to PIO, I managed to change it back to UDMA 2.

Now I set the drive to record at 48x, it starts, takes 3 minutes and 30 seconds to burn a 700MB avi file and when it ends Nero reports a write speed of 32x ???
But this isn’t the main problem, after the record ends I tested the file by copying it back to the hard drive and it gives me an error (cyclic redundacy error) meaning that the avi is corrupt :frowning:
This is hapenning in 80% of the cd’s I try to burn.
I’m using nero and plextools.

What can be the problem ?

My PC :
Board: Abit BX6
Intel Celerom 400Mhz processor
384Mb of memory
Main hard Drive: Seagate 80GB 7200rpm (conected trough a ATA 133 disk adapter)
Geforce 2 MX 400

You say the problem is my junk PC, it is slow sending the data to the burner, but I don’t think that’s the problem, that kind of problem causes buffer underrun problems and that isn’t hapenning, the burn operations are finishing without problems, the problems only apera when I test the data.

Hi,

I don’t think that the reason for crc errors is a slow PC, I have sent my drive for RMA because of this and I have a P4, 1GB RAM.
Just to be sure, I have tried a TEAC x52 burner on my pc which worked fine. I have also connected the Plextor to another pc (P4, 512MB RAM) and it produced the same errors. send the drive for RMA.

Have you got a response from them yet ?

Hi,

I’ve got only an RMA number.

You could e-mail feedback@plextor.be and ask them about your problems.
