Plextor 40/12/40A not a burner?

I’m at my wits end here. I just bought and installed a Plextor CD-R PX-W4012A and although my comp will recognize it, it won’t recognize it as a CDR drive. I’ve checked to make sure the aspi layers are ok (they are) I’ve updated to the newest version of Plextor manager and Easy CD creator. I’m running Windows 2000 service pack 2. Jesus god WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS THING?

I don’t know much about windows 2000, but you might try removing the drive, rebooting, turning the computer off and reinstalling. Sometimes that will do the trick with XP.

What exactly is the problem?

Does Plextor manager recognise the burner? And EasyCDCreator?

Because it’s normal that Windows2000 does not mention the difference between a CDROM and a CD-writer. The icon for your CD-writer in “my computer” is the same.
WinXP has a built in writing-prog, but Win2000 hasn’t

Only burning programs make that difference between CDROM and CD-writer. Try making a copy with Plextor Manager; if that works there’s no problem.
If it doesn’t, please let us know
