I am wondering what online sites are carrying this dirve? Is it even out yet?

#2

You’ll probably see it in the stores in late February.

#3

what would you do?

wait until late feburary for the 40x

or buy the 24x right now?

is there gonna be that much of an increase in speed to warrant waiting another month

Compared to the 24X you’ll save less than a minute on a full 80 minute CD.

Personally I would have bought a lite-on 24X or 32X, they are normally cheaper. And they support backing up the new SD2 version…something which the plextor 24X can’t do. :stuck_out_tongue:

You mean “something which the plextor 24X can’t do” yet!

Surely this is a soon to be updated driver issue. The mighty Plextor will not be downgraded so!

Let’s hope so

I can’t believe I paid $200 for the PlexWriter 24x and only to find out later that it can’t copy the new SD2 version, but a cheap LiteOn could.
