Before you do anything else you need to check your cables and the way the drives are set : Master/Slave /Cable select???
which means physically checking the back panel of each drive to see where the jumper is (or isn't).
The easiest is to consult the doc that came with the drive, or check out this subject on the net, you set up hard drives the same way so it should be easy to find a diagram showing the pins.
Are they on the same cable??
If so you need one Master and one Slave.........
