Please Help, Blindwrite failing

Writes the CD in 2 seconds. Cool huh? Not really.

Here’s the log of what goes wrong.

I have no idea why this is happening.

Which writing speed setting did you choose?
You should try setting it to automatic. If it is automatic already, try medium speed.

Automatic, Fast, Medium, all have the same result.

I should mention that Nero works fine, so I know the system is capable of writing CD’s.

i got this message when i was using a bad image and burned it fast, if i burned the same image slow (with the tweaker) it would work
but this was with a older version of bw5
are you sure the image is good?

Do all of them give you the same writing speed, or do all of them fail with different speeds?

Have you tried disabling your Antivirus software before writing?

Is it a fact there is no problem with Norton 2004 ??

Error report with Slow speed:

I do not run Antivirus, in fact all that I have running are the same programs that always used to work fine (D-Tools, Popup Stopper, MSN Messenger, etc)

Nero works at whatever speed I want to burn at. I know these images are good because I made them myself and D-Tools runs them flawlessly.

They are all BW4 images, however, BW4 stopped working for no apparent reason also (same kind of errors).

Trekari,

do you happen to know what chipset for motherboard you are using? They could be :intel , sis , and via. Just some information that would be good to know . Also have you update those ? If you dont know where to find what chipset your using they can be found by going to device manager and looking under IDE atapi controllers

It is a Via KT333 chipset.

My other CD burning software programs work fine. I prefer Nero for music, Blindwrite for data, but I used Nero not even two days ago for data backup and it worked flawlessly (also made a music CD last night while making sure my system was not at fault for this).

Something is wrong with Blindwrite specifically and I’m frustrated. ALL (seriously, all) of my drivers are up-to-date.

Northbridge/Southbridge, NIC, GPU, Sound, Mouse, DX, etc.

Provided this is your model EIDE

After you updated your via drivers did all of your devices become recognized as scsi, Looking at your log you’ll notice that your IDE plextor is recognized as a scsi device. There are three different versions of the last via drivers all with the same version number more or less via 4in1 ver449. The first one ver.449 made all ide devices be recognized as scsi devices and during testing with BW we ran into problems with this version, via then snuck out an update and that version is 4in1v449vp2, which seemed to make all ide devices be recognized as such not scsi anymore. I would suggest you download the vp2 version of the Hyperion 4in1 drivers and give them a shot.

That did it.

Thanks, BW is working great now like everything else.

Actually, there is a new issue… :frowning:

Sometimes after writing a CD with BW5, (sometimes it takes a few consecutive writes) it disconnects my CDRW and I have to reboot to get the drive back.

It will not even show up in Windows Explorer or Device Manager (even when “Scan for hardware change” is selected).

BW5 at least works now, but I thought this should be passed along.

I have the VIA drivers, and my drives would be reset to PIO mode. I reformated and am running default WindowsXP settings. It happen one time after but I was able to reset them and it hasn’t done it for about 10 burns now. I’ll be wtaching to see if you have any other problems before I upgrade the VIA … please keep me informed

curious have you unistalled blindwrite and reboot and then reinstall blindwrite since you put new via drivers on ? just was wondering .Also I have had to switch back to Microsoft drivers for via and I used them for awhile and those worked great and then i updated again and it work fine with new via drivers …it was kinda odd but then again I know alot of people with via boards that just use Microsoft drivers.
