Can anyone help? I have been tyring to back up various dvd’s recently and have had problems with slow copies and then burning failers. Previously I have had no problems at all. I have cleared DMA using both PLatinum function and previous thread links. I have re-installed both region free and platimun. I have changed the settings in Platimum as describe in previous threads.

I enclose an excert of a recent failure. I have a matshuti DVD burner.

Hello Colin. The drive shown in the burn log is not a DVD burner. The DW224E-A burns CDs only according to Googled sources (and the log itself). Also, your version of Platinum is out of date. Download version 3.0.9.8 from the link near the top of the thread list or dvdfab.com.
/EDIT/ P.S. We’re glad to have you on the forum. Welcome.

Hi Signals

Thanks for the warm welcome and reply. I have downloaded Platinum updated version. Here are the details of ide drive IDE\CDROMMATSHITA_DVD-RAM_UJ- IS_1.50_\5&36E67C11&0&0.0.0 the driver is 5.1.2535.0. I have read some reviews that this burner has problems. I am still having problems with long copy times and errors with burning. Any thoughts or suggestions.

Thanks

Hi Colin. Sorry you are having problems. Try posting a burn log from the Matshita drive you mentioned in your post for us to take a look at. It may reveal something. Long/slow copy times (during the “Task 1/2” part of the process) can have many causes that may or may not relate to burn errors. My first suggestions would be to click the “Reset DMA” button in Common Settings and to make sure the hard drive where the DVDFab temp files are written has plenty (>10GB) of free space and is defragmented regularly.
