Pionner DVR111-D

Hello

I buought this Combo, but when I went use it, created the temps files, but say than “The disc is full or is not recordable”, when the CD is new, I have 2 windows XP, in the same computer in diferents HardDrives, but happened the same

Then I downloaded the firmware, but showed an error

I bought this DVD because I had a HP Burner, the which dont write in the discs

Then What is the problem?

Buy and install Nero, or some other CD/DVD burning application instead of using the crap built into XP?

Brother Vlad

Sorry, but if you cannot provide useful info no one will be able to help you with.

I installed the Nero

Give me the following error:

Also replace the ide cable.

Well, but is strange the Creative and Seagate Units is working fine

The problem is with the Pionner DVDRW, and seem be have not problem

Can be some problem with the configuration of my MotherBoard?

It’s not the drive, it is the cable. You must use an 80 conductor IDE cable to communicate with the drive, otherwise you will get “CRC Communications errors”. The regular 40 conductor IDE cables are not rated for UDMA data transfers.

The cable is always 99.99% at fault in these cases, trust us.

If you are already using an 80 conductor cable try another, and try avoid having a slower drive on the same cable. Put the Master drive at the far end of the cable.

The other drives might be functioning, but they are doing it slowly and not optimally. You should make sure they are using DMA, your system will work a lot faster.

Brother Vlad

hi,

I’m new and a foreigner, so excuse my English!
I’ve read some threads but I haven’t found my problem, or I have read bad…
My problem is the following:

I have just bought a Pioneer dvr-111d, installed it as master (having a LG dvd-reader previously installed as slave) but it didn’t function very well: it could burn and erase, but it was very slow in reading (if it succeeded in reading!), it couldn’t copy the file onto the harddisk (giving me this error: “impossible to copy file x: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.”) and it slowed up the system boot (I have set the 1st boot from cd, so I could note a considerable delay in booting ).

Then, I inverted the master and slave: that is, now the Pioneer is set to slave and the LG as master, and so the former functions in reading as well. But somewhere in this forum, I’ve read that Pioneer “loves” to be set as master!

Well, before coming to the current setting, I tried every possible configuration:
the dvr-111d functioned if it was the ONLY device installed on the secondary ide cable, whether it was master or slave. But if I installed the Pioneer as master and the LG as slave, it gave me the above problems.

Now, I repeat, with the current setting all functions, but I read a dvd-r at the average speed of 8.0x, and “Nero Info Tool” tells me that the write speed is of 1.0x!
Does all depend from the cable? The DMA is on, the cable is set correctly (with the middle/slave connector closer to the Master/end one), but is a 40 pin cable. And if this can be explained with the cable, that should be a 80 pin one, how can we explain the fact that the Pioneer doesn’t function as master, being installed the LG as slave? Could you help me, please?

I apologize to you for the confusion, but I don’t often write in English!
Thank you for your patience

Use a 80 wire ide cable and set your Pioneer drive as master. By using the 80 wire ide cable your drive will be udma 4 mode. Using a 40 wire ide cable is why you’re getting the write 1x speed where the drive will not function correctly. Just change to a 80 wire ide cable and the problem will be solved.

many thanks for you reply! I’ll try next week
