Just got myself a 108 Today and all i can say is that i had to pinch myself after scanning a G05 disc i burned in it, these G05s were marginal and i mean marginal in my 851s heres some examples.

4.36Gb dvd video burned @ 4x in LiteOn 851s @ DRU-700A VY08

4.36Gb dvd video burned @ 8X in Pioneer DVR-108 1.18
only the second disc burned in this aswell

Pioneers got my vote  any way of getting this thing to read at 16x on -R?

fastest i’ve got on -R (and indeed +R) for the 108 is just under 6x. my computer’s pretty slow though.

it’ll read burnt DVDs faster than it reads pressed discs for some reason.

[edit]

bear in mind though, that this drive is a bit finicky with -R’s burnt with other drives. i bought a spindle of crap discs (VDSPMSAB 01), and the quality difference between the pioneer and the lite-on 812S is amazing and disturbing.

i still can’t make it read back most of the discs burnt with the 812S, which is a pity because i don’t have that burner anymore.

it doesn’t appear to have this issue with +R or even +RW media.

The picky readings fine for me this is purely for burning -R My Liteon is the +R burner and the reader so it looks like my 108’s got a pretty easy life ahead of it.

Yeah, they go all right, huh? :iagree:

My Pioneer DVR108 is the bomb. I have not had a disc fail yet. And I burned 50 Princo pieces of crap with it.
