How sad :c I have allways enjoyed Pioneer products. And the DVD Burners are great, even though they did use NEC chipset. But software, firmeware etc where great. The NEC drives where crap and software, firmware where bad. They did make good chips however.

OK, I did expect this. Now they move from NEC to Matsushita/Panasonic for the chip/set which others have done recently too (Sony, Benq, Plextor). Bring on the BDR-102!!

IOW they can’t compete with LiteOn anymore in the DVD market.

Interesting… back when dvd recording came out Pionner was also one of the first companies to stop development of cd rom drives.
