About Benq

Benq is a relativly new name in the optical storage industry, but the people behind Benq are not. In fact they were part of one of the larger high tech companies of the world: Acer. However since 5 december 2001, Acer communications and Multimedia group has been spun off and is from then on called Benq. The company has about 10.000 employees world wide and has its main office in Taiwan. Besides making optical storage products, Benq also makes mobile phones, monitors, digital camera's and scanners. The company has its own research and development division located in the USA, China, Taiwan and this has made that the company currently has 400 global patents.

Benq has chosen to be in the optical storage industry because as the company states on their website: CD-ROM drives play a leading role in the multimedia world. To run CD-R disks or video games and data DVD disks, or record a large volume of personal or commercial information, you need high-efficiency storage equipment. BenQ storage products include internal and external CD-ROM, CD-RW, DVD-ROM and Combi (CD-R/RW and DVD-ROM) drives.

According to Benq the company is dedicated to bring enjoyment and quality to live, in this review we will take a look if the company has succeeded in this regarding their optical storage products.
