I'm having a problem burning Memorex X16 DVD+R's. My computer will burn them, but it can't read from them. I even tried on my other desktop and it won't read them either. When I try to access the files on the DVD, Windows either says to insert a disk, or it will open it and nothing will be on it and says there are 0 out of 0 MB used (like there is nothing inside the drive). I know they have been burned to because I can see the burn ring on the bottom of the disc.
I've been using Roxio and DVD Decrypter to burn these DVD's and neither one of them has produced anything that is usable. Ive come up with 8 coasters and now I'm trying ImgBurn to see if that can produce anything other than a coaster (it just finished, and again, a coaster).
I know my drive can burn DVD's, I've used Office Depot brand 16x DVD+R a few months ago, and they burned fine, not a single one was a coaster. I stuck one of the burned Office Depot DVD's in my computer and it read it fine.
I've been scouring these forums since yesterday trying to find a solution. I've tried upgrading the firmware of my drive, but on the manufacture's website there is only one firmware for it and my drive already has that particular one. I updated it anyway and it still won't burn them correctly. I would have just figured these Memorex DVD's were just from a crappy batch, but my DVD burner is only burning at a maximum of 2.40x when I know it is rated to burn DVD's at up to 8x. So I don't know if it's crappy DVD's or my DVD drive is crapping out. I tried burning a CD and it burned that flawlessly.
From what I've learned from these forums the important things to know is the Disc ID is that of a RITEK-F16-01 (according to ImgBurn) and the batch number is VR5F16-0037.
