Pioneer dvr 216d not recognized

[qanda]This thread is about the Pioneer DVR-216D. Click here to see full specs[/qanda]Hi everyone I am new to the forum and have a problem in so much my pc running vista 64 bit does not recognize the new pioneer dvd writer I have just installed.
Any help very much appreciated.

What chipset is mobo? Note not all chipsets work correctly with SATA optical drives. Intel and Silicon Image work well while many others don’t. You may need to get a PCI SATA adapter with Silicon Image chipset or exchange the 216D SATA for the 116D IDE drive.

Thanks for the info but I have sorted it by following this info and its up and running no problem now.
To solve this Code 39 error, follow these instructions:

NOTE: After removing these registry keys and rebooting, it may be necessary to reinstall any CD or DVD recording applications.

  1. Close all open programs

  2. Click on Start, Run, and type REGEDIT and press Enter

  3. Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

4) This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

5) If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete

  1. After deleting the keys, close the Registry Editor

  2. Reboot your computer

  3. Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.
