Pioneer DVR-112D problem

Hey guys.
I am having trouble with my Pioneer DVR-112D. Ever since I’ve had it, the read speed has been capped at about 2-4X (even though I can burn at 16x), and I haven’t been able to boost it…I am not very good with CD Drives, but my Nero Drive Speed isn’t blocking its drive speed. Any ideas will greatly appreciated.
It also says its just a CD drive, when its actually a DVD-RW/CD-RW drive. Firmware 1.22 (I’ll check for an update too).

@ Jamesspalding,

For the Pioneer DVR-112D to function and operate at full potential requires the use of an Ultra DMA (80-Conductor) IDE/ATA Cable and operate in the Ultra DMA Mode 4.

Suggest ensuring that your Pioneer DVR-112D is connected to your computer via an Ultra DMA (80-Conductor) IDE/ATA Cable (http://www.pcguide.com/ref/hdd/if/ide/confCable80-c.html) and that your Pioneer DVR-112D is operating in the Ultra DMA Mode 4 (http://club.cdfreaks.com/f61/troubleshooting-enabling-checking-dma-windows-vista-xp-2000-me-9x-101616).

Also suggest updating your Pioneer DVR-112D v1.22 to the newest most current up to date version 1.24 Firmware ->

http://wwwbsc.pioneer.co.jp/product-e/ibs/device_e/dev00001r_e.html#firmware1

Also suggest when up dating your Pioneer DVR-112D to version 1.24 Firmware that you use the Media Code Speed Edit (MCSE) tool to patch both the Pioneer UPR12D.Exe Flasher with the “Allow Same to Same Flashing” patch and the A0813001.124 Firmware with the “Increase Read Speed”, “RPC1 (Region Free) Patch” and “Enable BitSetting” Patches. Refer to the Pioneer DVD Burner Forum Read First posting titled “MediaCodeSpeedEdit support for Pioneer DVD-Writers” (http://club.cdfreaks.com/f87/mediacodespeededit-support-pioneer-dvd-writers-153213) and the MCSE Home Page (http://ala42.cdfreaks.com/MCSE) for detailed information on using the MCSE tool to patch the Pioneer “Flasher” and “Firmware”.

WOW bjkg said it all  no need to add anything

Thanks for the help guys (like alot of thanks, I learnt stuff too), but when I used the updated (MCSE’d) firmware it said it was already the newest so…Is there any way you can reinstall firmware? (So far from what I’ve researched…No there isn’t)

@ Jamesspalding,

Apparently it appears when using the Media Code Speed Edit (MCSE) tool that you overlooked patching the Pioneer UPR12D.Exe Flasher with the “Allow Same to Same Flashing” patch as I mentioned in my #2 posting.

Perchance have you reviewed the Pioneer DVD Burner Forum Read First posting titled “MediaCodeSpeedEdit support for Pioneer DVD-Writers” (http://club.cdfreaks.com/f87/mediacodespeededit-support-pioneer-dvd-writers-153213) and noted the comments concerning “Allow Same to Same Flashing” under the topic “Usage Flasher Modification:”? The “Flasher” “Allow Same to Same Flashing” patch removes the Official Pioneer Flasher “Restrictions” and will allow Firmware “ReInstall”.

Reguards,
bjkg

If I was you I would just flash it to a 112L with FW 8.25 IMHO

#8

@ Jimbo,

Flashing a Pioneer DVR-112D to Buffalo version 1.25 Firmware is also my preference over Pioneer version 1.24 Firmware but for simplicity purposes in posting #2 I purposely omitted any references to Buffalo CrossFlashing.

I have two Pioneer DVR-112Ds CrossFlashed to Buffalo version 1.25 Firmware and these Drives work flawlessly.

My bad, I suffer from slight dyslexia and kind of don’t notice things straight off the bat :D. Thanks for all the help!

BJKG, I have to agree with you on the crossflashing regardless if it’s MCSE or the Buffalo as my two Pioneers work flawlessly also
