also what DL speed will the 8.26/8.29 give me thanks for the info

sc00terx

always better to have the latest, be the usual updates, minor impovements and better media support

None other than with 1.xx.

thanks for the info

not 100% if i should go to this and can i go from 8.26 to 8.29 with no problems

I’ve noticed that 8.29 firmware doesn’t support 8x writing to 8x rated CMC MAG D04 Platinum DVD+R DL media. It can be done only at 2.4x

I am using a Pioneer 111D@111L 8.29 and have been extremely happy with the burn results so far excepting of course the high PIE readings that are discussed here Scanned on my older lite-on 851s@832 the PIE reading are very nice and the PIF are great too. I posted some results on the aforementioned thread, so I will not waste space here with the same.

p.s. Is it acceptable to put a link to another post that applies to the discussion here?

so FW 8.26 will burn at 8x DL ??

as i have not got eny 8x yet

The burning/writing speed of DVD Media supported by any particular Pioneer DVR-111 Firmware is dependant on the Media Code of the DVD Media you are attempting to burn/write.

The most likely reason why Pioneer DVR-111 Firmware doesn’t support burning/writing CMC MAG D04 DVD+R DL Media faster than 2.4x speed is because this particular Media Code is for inferior cheap problematic Media which if burned at a speed higher than 2.4x speed will result in failed burns.

If you want to know what burning/writing speed a particular Pioneer DVR-111 Firmware supports use MediaCodeSpeedEdit ( and load the particular Pioneer DVR-111 Firmware into the MediaCodeSpeedEdit program and the supported burning/writing speed of various Media will be revealed. If you are unaware of the MediaCodeSpeedEdit software program the below Forum Link will provide information ->

Best Regards,

Same for 1.29. I’ve tested a bunch of them.

I think that bjkg has right. Platinum is cheap media and may not be very good media, but i still not have problems with these.

I think that D04 is new stuff and mine is Datawrite.

I’ve played a bit with that MID and MCSE, but it wont work.

At least I’ve tried…

i am geting traxdata 8x Media Code: RITEK S04

hope they are ok at 8x

Suggest viewing my #8 posting in this thread. Most likely my comments concerning CMC MAG D04 DVD+R DL Media also applies to RITEK S04 DVD+R DL Media.

At this time/date Verbatim MKM001/MKM003 Mitsubishi Kagaku Media is the only DL +R Media that consistently produces quality error free results.

With Pioneer DVR-11lL v8.29 firmware Verbatim MKM001/MKM003 Mitsubishi Kagaku Media DL +R Media will burn/write at 2.4x/4x/6x/8x speed.

Also suggest reviewing my #8 posting in this thread and note my comments concerning using MediaCodeSpeedEdit ( to determine the burning/writing speed of Pioneer DVR-111 Firmwares.

Also suggest visiting the CD Freaks Blank Media Forum ( for information concerning quality error free DVD Media.
