I have a Pioneer DVR-108 with the latest firmware 1.20 05/04/25.
just bought a 50 pack of FujiFilm DVD+R 16x for $15 at Best Buy. The dvds only burn at 4x max.

media info

Media code/Manufacturer ID PRODISC R05
Media Product Revision Number 01h
Media Type DVD+R
Manufacturer Rated Speed Unknown
Available Write Descriptor CLV 4.0x 5540KBps
Available Write Descriptor CLV 2.4x 3324KBps

using Nero Premium 7 and Windows SP2

Any idea how I can burn at full 16x speed ? Pioneer if your listening, update the firmware please.

You cant, period. I assume the burner burns at 16x with other branded 16x media? If thats the case then the pioneer just doesnt feel the media is good enough to burn at 16x with its current firmware.

Using nx4all firmware or MCSE would be your only chances…

Available Write Descriptor CLV 12.0x 16620KBps

And?

“CMC MAG E01” IS NOT “Prodisc R05”!

Basically what’s happening here is that Pioneer have stopped all development for the Pioneer DVR-108. No firmware updates have been released since v1.20 and that was released ages ago. The media code PRODISC R05 would not exist in the media table of firmware v1.20, and therefore the drive will default to it’s generic write strategy of 4X CLV when writing this media.
