They say a picture is worth 1000 words. Well ok here are two kprobes done on a 811s of dvd+rw media burned on the pioneer A07U with both 1.10 and 1.12 f/w the disk was erased fully both time and then writen using over 4gb of HDD data. the same disk was used for both scans and It was erased and writen over 5 times before the test runs so it was not a new disk

ROFL

no , for that u need hacked firmware

Nice!

Even seems like the DAXON.AZ2 8x DVD+R discs I’m getting in few days may be supported.

I smell an update of my Pioneer DVR-107D review soon.

btw: Pioneer have said that they will NEVER allow 4x discs to be written at 8x, only 8x (or better when that time comes) discs at 8x :iagree:

#6

Ritek r03 is still only supported at 4x :frowning:

I’ll post the info here while I’m re-testing it so you could keep track on changes/improvements I find. Here you go:

Reading problems I had in the review seems to be fixed
CD-ReWriting quality is GREATLY improved - went from totally useless to about the best I’ve seen from any DVD-Writer.

Still uses long time on calibrating before writing to
DVD discs = uses near a minute more than it should if it was as fast as calibrating as other writers. :frowning:

More to come later.

I updated the fw to 1.12 for A07-J, but it still can not
support 8X for RitekR03.

CD-ReWriting quality is only increased for Verbatim/mitsubishi it seems. For plasmon it’s actualle DE-Creased :frowning:

Many types of Princo discs still sucks with this writer :frowning:

Writing Quality with MCC 003 8x DVD+R may be a bit decreased. Unsure as this may just be disc differences…

OC-Freak thanks for the info, Im currently looking at getting a DVD writer and after looking at you reviews for the NEC ND-2500A and the Pioneer DVR-107D I was leaning more towards the NEC ND-2500A because of the write quality and its ability to produce reasonable results with Datawrite redtop v2, I’m also considering getting Verbatim, and Ridisc G04 dye, discs for more important stuff.

I would be interested which drive you would recommend after you’ve tested the latest firmware.

Still no improvement on RICOHJPNR01 with 1.12 :frowning:

Yes.

But the ricohjpnr01 problem is well known and verified by others.

#14

DVD-RAM reading problem is fixed
Still problems with DAXON.AZ1 4x DVD+R media :frowning:

Do RITEKG04’s burn at 8x with this firmware (un-hacked)?

Also, is it safe to upgrade from hacked 1.10 to non-hacked 1.12.

Thanks!

Nope, why should they?

Pioneer have officially stated that they will never support 4x media at 8x, only 8x or better at 8x.

OK, Reason I ask is because this sounds like 8x on 4x media:

Surpport 8X writing on New RITEK DVD-R Media

Has anyone tested the new 1.12 Firmware on CDRs? I don’t have a liteon to do a Kprobe comparision between 1.10 and 1.12. Thanks.
