You need to download the flash package specifically for the DVR-104 (note that the LasVegas site is no longer the current site for DVRFlash):
After you cross-flash to a genuine Pioneer DVR-104 (your drive is currently an Apple Superdrive, not a Pioneer; cross-flashing is what will convert the drive into a Pioneer), then make sure and upgrade to firmware version 1.41:
Note that, although the file above is a self-extracting .exe file for Windows, it’s also in a compressed format that can be extracted on a Mac, using The Unarchiver or Stuffit. Inside you will find the current 1.41 firmware. Use DVRFlash to flash that firmware to your drive.
Also, the reason that I want to upgrade the firmware is because my drive will not read burnt Dual Layer DVDs. I am hoping that the firmware upgrade will allow me to do so. If anyone knows whether or not the upgraded firmware will allow me to read Dual Layer DVDs, please let me know.
The DVR-104 is kind of old, and will sometimes have problems reading burned DL media. This is a confirmed problem. Firmware 1.41 may have fixed it, but I haven’t tested it.
