[qanda]This thread is about the Pioneer DVR-215D. Click here to see full specs[/qanda]Quick question,

I bought a Pioneer 215 D online and was sent a Pioneer 216 DBK.
I have not fitted it yet as not sure what to do, should I sent it back and ask for the 215 D that I paid for or should I just keep the 216 DBK.

Thanks in advance.

Hi
Welcome on board slipstream uk,
Firstly do you have a SATA port as the 216 is SATA.
If not you’ll need to return & get a 215 (IDE).
Even if you have SATA ports available.
They may not work with ODD’s (DVDRW’s).
Post your motherboard details if not sure.

The 215(D) and 216(D) are both SATA while the 115(D) and 116(D) are both PATA.

I’d much prefer getting a 115/215 to a 116/216 but you are probably out of luck if they are out of stock on the 215(D).

The D[B]BK[/B] just means that it is the black version of the D model while DSV is the silver version and the D is the beige version.

Welcome to CDFreaks!

EDIT: As an alternative consider the Optiarc AD-5200S/7200S/7201S/7203S (or *A for the PATA version).

Yeah zebadee’s out of practice.
Perhaps going senile.
I think he got mixed up over numbers.
I know he has a 215 & he’s all SATA now.

The 215 has the better f/w when it comes to media.
If the supplier sent the 216 as they are out of stock of 215.
Might be worth considering the 7203S[SATA] or A[IDE] from NEC.
