Pioneer changer and WinXP

Hello everyone…

Newbie here…

I have a oldie Pioneer DRM-604X CD-ROM 6 disc changer and it is connected to an Initio INIC-941 (LUN capable) SCSI card, which in turn is run by Windows XP Home SP1

The problem is that the Busy led blinks every second. As per the manual, this means the drive has some problem performing. I ran the self test (passed), and then reset the dip switches to their correct positions. Still, I get random blue error screens, and sometimes the drive is totally dead in the water. It is properly terminated. The cables have also been switched, but no dice.

The drive is recognized (6 drives are added), but reading them is truely unreliable. If the magazine is fully loaded on windows startup, the drives tries to read (the TOC I suppose) all the discs. By the 5th, windows reboots itself and never gets to start. If only 2 (haven’t tried 3, 4 or 5 discs) are on the mag, the drive reads both of them, and windows does start correctly. Both discs are accessible (at least most of the time).

Any one know what can be wrong??? I have run out of options…

Thanks
