Ok, I have a pioneer flashed with the bitsetting to the 8.29 dvr-111L Model.
burns my Phillips 8x rated DL + R at 2.4x only.

bout an LG H22n today to test, and it does 4x on this media…
what Drive can get the 8x out of it?

I am very dissappointed with the lack of support on Pioneers side…
LG at least does it at 4x, so I am a BIT happy now…
I wasted 4 nights, when I could have wasted 2 only for burning with my pioneer last week!

Is there a better burner for me to get for DL burns out there now…
and yes, I know… VERBATIM 8X MEDIA Rocks…
but sometimes, I need it cheap and fast.

then you are lost!

Be happy that Pioneer limited the speed for this crap media to 2.4x!!

Scan them for quality and you will see what crap you have bought.

Get 2.4x Verbatim DL that can be burnt up to 8x!

Check thi sout: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia.php?dvdmediasearch=philips&dvdmediadvdridsearch=&type=3&size=8.5&dvdburnspeed=All&order=Name&hits=50&search=Search+or+List+Media

Philips also sold MKM001 DLs, but very rare…
Yours are surely with another mediacode.

I wouldn’t be so sure about that. There is a good chance that he has got the new CMC D04 DL disks. They are not as good as Verbatim but no crap. Some burners burn them quite well.

And so do the Pioneer although it has no write strategie for that mid yet. And that is the reason because it only writes them at 2,4x standard strategie.

The chance is 1:5…

I put them in an LG H22N I bought…
I burnt about 15 discs of them at 4x ( max LG will do them at with NO problems…

You could tweak the firmware and write strategies by using ala’s MCSE tool. But don’t expect miracles when burning.

i know this is so Noob…
but… how do I tweak the 1.01 LG?
I got MCSE
and I used the dvd ident. util recommended…
I put in the Verbatim 2.4x DL’s I have now…
it idents it, I copy/paste the info into MCSE under the
verbatim 2.4x 4x and 6x section in the firmware, write the firm to
the drive, and still get it at 2.4x only…
am I doing it wrong?
