On factory-pressed DVD-DLs, the Write-Master™ SH-S182 indicated a slightly increased error rate for L1, while eTAU108 and SE-208 did not.

#1024

(@Tester_1) surprisingly, the error rate increased at the very end, which is the inner edge.
For Kodak’s DVD+R DL, it barely increased.

Verbatim 6x BD-R (#43838 labled 50 pack, first BD out of a new 50 pack)
CMCMAGBA5
BDR-209E/M 1.34 (manufactured 02/2017 in China)
burned @ x6

That doesn’t look good, even worse than the previous 50 pack, hope the next BDs will be better.

That´s true, but this media is still better than most other you can buy

I guess the Plextor will not burn these media better.

#1027

Well, I’ll see what my 208D will have to say soon…
but first the second BD out of that new 50 pack burned with the 209E will be scanned soon, will post that result then.

Ok, result is in, and it’s even worse than the first BD. :frowning:

Why does BD have error spikes?

#1036

Most media you use are hard to find, but nice scans

#1037

@TL7, I can’t explain why, but I would always assume there will be a few error spikes regardless of how good the burner or media can be.

@Tester_1, I grab these DVD media before they went out of production. The BD media were bought based on the other members’ results.

#1038

Verbatim 6x BD-R (#43838 labled 50 pack, BD out of a new 50 pack)
CMCMAGBA5
BDR-209E/M 1.20 (manufactured 02/2017 in China)
burned @ x6

Ok, so I downgraded to firmware 1.20 to see if that’d handle the Verbatim CMCs better, but this result is even worse, so I think I’ll go back to 1.34. :frowning:

#1039

So it´s not a FW-issue. Maybe really a bad batch, or the quality is getting worse. Or maybe a few changes at production, not compatible to the FW-parameters

#1040

Well, I’ll another burn later to see if it’s not just one really bad BD from that 50 pack.
But unfortunately CMC BDs have a certain quality range, and these results are well within that range.

#1041

Yep, like I wrote, it´s still better than many other media you can buy actually

#1042

burned @ x6

Ok, that looks worse than with 1.34 as well, so I’ll go back to 1.34. :frowning:
