Yes, I think we’ve found the root of your problem …
Several people reported problems with media bought from this particular seller … see here: http://club.myce.com/f142/hehe-just-bought-40-bd-rs-20-bucks-279040/
For me it’s very curious to hear so many theories about the “repacked” discs but I’m obligated to reply because I’m the seller of many of these “repacked” packages.
1- In Japan there is no sale of discs that “didn’t pass the quality control” at cheaper prices or in bulk because it’s Japan! and for BIG makers like Sony, TDK, Panasonic, Verbatim, etc. It will be like a crime for these big companies to sell that kind of discs to their customers and auto damage their reputation. This is FALSE.
2- The “repacking” is made from the original factory sealed packs removing the jewel cases manually one by one and not from a large spindle bulk purchases because, and again, NO ONE BIG COMPANY IN JAPAN sell optical media in bulk. This kind of deal doesn’t exist and never will exist.
3- Most complaints come from the repacked packages Verbatim 50GB 2X and from TDK 50GB 4X, but curiously 99% of buyers using the same burner “LG GGW-H20L / LG GGW-H20LK” so we have definitely an issue with this relatively “old” 2007 model burner. No problems reported with 25GB BD-R any brand repacked or sealed packages.
4- We recommend to try and burn all discs at least TDK discs because TDK will not exchange any BLANK disc, TDK will analyze disc by disc before replacing them while Verbatim will exchange it without problems. TDK will exchange only the discs that they consider “failed” and return all discs declared by the user as “faulty” with a printed and detailed technical report explaining that the failure in burning was due to buyer misuse.
5- Burners or software are NOT “foolproof” and can be perfectly the cause of the failures, so we suggest many recommendations like cleaning the bluray lens or upgrading the firmware or software because many troubles has been solved after following our recommendations. In the event of exchanging the discs, its an ebay policy to return the merchandise back to the seller, and to many of our loyal buyers we offer FREE reshipping and even replacements of other brand like SONY or Panasonic.
Lamentably we can’t be so kind with angry “experts” buyers that are reluctant to provide the info we require or follow some of our recommendations.
6- At last, we have factory sealed packs at good prices and buyers are free to chose what they want to buy. Remember that bluray is a new format and burning failures are due to many factors and not necessarily the discs however its a possibility and we the sellers are obligated to give support anyway and buyers must collaborate also providing the data required by the seller.
