Hi All,

I’m new here, thanks in advance for providing this resource.

I’m having problems with a pioneer DVR-111D DVD Burner. The burner is being recognized in the BIOS, but has recently stopped being recognized by my installation of Windows XP Pro.

This happened shortly after I installed a Liteon DVD reader (which is still working), however there was a few week grace period in which both drives worked at the same time.

The jumpers are in the right places, with the liteon as master and the pioneer as slave.

The firmware is up to date.

The pioneer drive works when installed on another computer.

I assume this is a problem with my windows settings and not the hardware?

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time and attention.

welcome to the forums

your pioneer like to be master on it’s channel.
have you checked all the cables are fitted correctly?
you could try to uninstall your IDE drivers from device manager and reboot

Thanks for the quick response!

I have already tried changing the pioneer drive to master and uninstalling the drivers. I have also tried a different IDE cable.

EDIT: I forgot to mention earlier that this drive, though it is not recognized by windows in normal or safe mode, will boot an xp cd at startup.

Got it. I tried switching IDE cables again and it worked this time. I think that this is because the first time that I tried a different cable, both drives were set to ‘master.’ Thanks!
