Pioneer 116d - Newcomer question

Hi,
just got a Pioneer 116D, FW 1.06. Every time I try to burn a CD it will not work. Currently I currently only have a 40 wire cable installed, could this be the reason for not being able to burn CDs? I always thought that the 40 wire cable would slow the burning speed, not prevent burning at all…

Or is there another “stupid” mistake that stops me from burning (I tried different software programs and different CD-R / CD-RW types).

Thanks
S

@ dr_s_bos,

Welcome to the Forum.

For the Pioneer DVR-116D to operate and function correctly at its optimal performance Requires the use of an Ultra DMA (80-Conductor) IDE/ATA Cable (http://www.pcguide.com/ref/hdd/if/ide/confCable80-c.html) and operate in the Ultra DMA Mode 4 (http://club.cdfreaks.com/f61/troubleshooting-enabling-checking-dma-windows-vista-xp-2000-me-9x-101616).

After ensuring you are using a Ultra DMA (80-Conductor) IDE/ATA Cable and confirmed your Pioneer DVR-116D is operating in the Ultra DMA Mode 4 if you continue to have CD Burning problems then return to this posting thread and provide the below “Minimal Pertinent Information”.

Unfortunately only providing “Every time I try to burn a CD it will not work” is insufficient information for Forum Member to even hazard a guess as to what your problem might be. You are going to have to provide more pertinent information if you anticipate Forum Member to provide meaningful assistance.

“Minimal Pertinent Information” would consist of the following ->

The software Program Name and Version Number of the CD Burning software you are using.

Complete full Error Narrative and Error Code displayed by the CD Burning program.

A Log File of a failed Burning Attempt from the CD Burning software program you are using.

The MID (Manufacture ID and Media Code) of the blank Media used.

Any other amplifying information you can provide concerning the “Will Not Work” problem.

Regards,
bjkg

Hi,
the software is IMGBURN 2.4.20, Disc ID is unknown (Staples CD-RW, 80 minutes, 4x speed; also tried Memorex CD-R, 80 minutes, 52x speed); error is attached.

The readout form IMGBURN prior to the failed attemps is
