you can flash 1.06 but can not upgrade. 1.08 is not available.
do you really need DVD-RAM and Label Flash?
No sir, But i need DVDROM on +R, There is no other way around it so i figured if i flash 1.08 to 1.06 i will have DVDROM on +R after i run MCSE thru it. Then in future i will have to flash the drive with a jap file like this when it comes out DVRA16_FW108EU because at this time there is only a DVRA16_FW106EU. Whats taking them so long. So ppl with 1.06 FW are at 1.06 until Pioneer is ready to release 1.08?. That does’nt sound like Pioneer. Because i called them and said hey listen i have drives at 1.08 FW so how do i flash my others at 1.06 to 1.08 and they did’nt know. I hope there not turning into LG now!. Because i have at least 15 Pioneer drives between 112L and 115L and only one 116D and that was MFG in 8/2008 and came with 1.08 FW on it. Would’nt it be a bummer if they did’nt release the firmware and depending when the drive was MFG is what firmware you have. That would stop me from buying anymore Pioneer drives. And after all of this in my opinion the 112L kicks both the 115 and 116 ass. BTW im sure im correct there is no way for me to get DVDROM on +R if i don’t do this. As when 1.08 comes out i can always upgrade to 1.08 again using DVRA16_FW108EU when released or reflash to stock 1.06 which i can do now and just use MCSE to get the booktype bit setting. But it is strange i never seen them release drives like this that others below this 1.08 firmware version could’nt upgrade to 1.08!. Even though you can’t dump Pioneer FW. At least not me DVRFLASH can do it that a dump is’nt needed. 116D @ 1.08 is’nt rip locked but i’d like to have it set at RPC1, Speed Read, all Booktype +R. Until then it will lay in closet or i’ll down grade to 1.06 if thats only option.
