Pioneer 115D keep getting bad burns

Well the story goes i bought this burner couple months back but just installed it yesterday tried a good amount of burns from 8x to max and all
i get is just coaster not sure what could be the problem is I’ve checked DMA and its on checked firmware and its up to date and im using verbatim DVD blanks. The only thing i can think of maybe because im using a 40pin ide and not an 80pin which i’ll buy today to check if that the problem and im burning with nero here is the log i get from the error

yeah change the ide cable and also try ImgBurn instead of Nero.

@ medoban,

Welcome to the Forum.

For the Pioneer DVD-115D to function and operate at its optimal performance the Pioneer DVD-115D is required to be correctly installed on an Ultra DMA (80-Conductor) IDE/ATA Cable (http://www.pcguide.com/ref/hdd/if/ide/confCable80-c.html) and operate in the Ultra DMA Mode 4 (http://club.cdfreaks.com/f61/troubleshooting-enabling-checking-dma-windows-vista-xp-2000-me-9x-101616)

It is not a “80pin” IDE Cable that you need – it is a 80-conductor IDE cable that you need- in short an Ultra DMA (80-Conductor) IDE/ATA Cable. Suggest reviewing below Web Link that fully details an Ultra DMA (80-Conductor) IDE/ATA Cable ->

The Pioneer DVD-115D needs to operate in specifically in the Ultra DMA Mode 4. Suggest reviewing the below Web Link for DMA mode setting information ->
