Hi

well im having problems burning cd & dvds with my pioneer 115d i just bought a few days ago. I burnt about 15 discs and all of them couldnt get pass a few % with errors like: invalid write state, recorder reset occured and a couple more but forgot what they were.

im using some cheapy yoshii brand dvd. but i dont think its the disc because I can burn fine in safe mode. I tried a ritek dvd from my mate and same problem.

firmware is 1.18. Nero 8 and Convertxtodvd has the same problem: can only burn in safe mode. so please help me.

heres an error report after the failed burn with the ritek disc:

Do you have some other media to try? Perhaps the RitekG05 batch you have is of bad quality (not uncommon).

</not></ritekg></ide></pioneer></ide></pioneer>

#3

If the burner works in a different PC, then you have a software/hardware conflict problem with one of the programs or pieces of hardware that is disabled in safe mode.

#4

RiTEK-G05 can be geat or pure crap, depending of manufacturer label.

I bought a few 5 packs of RiTEK-G05 at Lidhl one year back and sofar noone of my 11 DVD burners from variety of brands have been able to burn them successfully.
Just my take on this.

BTW, no need to move burner to other compu, just buy some decent (aka Verbatim) media. Thanks.
If the burner works in a different PC, then you have a software/hardware conflict problem with one of the programs or pieces of hardware that is disabled in safe mode.
the only program that i can think of that is disabled during safe mode is my antivirus.

and dont think its cos of the media im using because it burns completely fine in safe mode.

this is so fustrating…

#6

well i just disconnected the 115d and connected my old benq DW1650 and tried burning a data disc with my yoshii media and it burnt completly fine, so i dont think it can be software related issues.

#7

Media is not recognized.

And:

Multisession : TRUE
Multisession type: : Start multisession

but if its not recognized, how come i can burn fine in safe mode.

I already tried burning it without multisession and same problem.

#9

take the 115 to another computer & see if it works

Using an nForce chipset perhaps?

The reason seems to be IDE driver problems then.

#12
The reason seems to be IDE driver problems then.
but how come my benq DW1650 can burn, and i tried switching them around and still doesnt work. and no im not using nforce chipsets.

well i took my pc to the store i bought the drive from and they said its programs conflicting with each other or something and said to reinstall windows and if it still doesnt work bring back the drive and get another one. so i reinstalled windows and still cant burn. so im goin to return the drive tomorrow.

Thanks for trying to help anyway.
The reason seems to be IDE driver problems then.
i just downloaded driver genius and apparently ive got a few drivers not up to date, one of them being my ide drivers so ill update it and see how it goes.

#14

It finally WORKS after the ide driver update WOOOT!! thanks so much chef! im now currently burning a data disk with nero 8 burning rom and its at 66%. THANK YOU!!

#15

So which driver is it that you needed (Intel, AMD, nVidia, VIA or SiS)?

#16
So which driver is it that you needed (Intel, AMD, nVidia, VIA or SiS)?
i needed the SiS ide driver 2.04a , something like that.

#17

well now ive got another problem lol… as you know ive got 2 dvd burners a pioneer 115d and benq DW1650. the problem is when i connect both of them to the pc it will just freeze at the win xp boot screen. this happened after i placed a disc in the benq drive and my whole computer just froze so i turned it off from the switch and turned it back on and it would just freeze.

but the pc will load up fine with just the pioneer drive or with just the benq drive but i had to take out the master/slave pin thing at the back. I tried all different kind of setups like switching them around, ching the pins at the back and none will work with both of them connected. This also happened just a few hours after i bought the pioneer burner so i just used the benq drive and left the pionner drive disconnected and i tried connecting them both again just yesterday and it booted up fine lol! wierd… so ill wait a day or two and connect them both again and see if it works.

Thanks, that’s good to know.

About your other problem, make sure you’re using an 80-wire ribbon cable and set Master/Slave jumpers correctly. Blue plug of the ribbon on mobo, black end on Master drive, grey middle plug on Slave drive. If you have a Dell, you may also try Cable Select jumper settings on both drives.

i think it has 80 wires well i counted 10 wires and doubled it and its around 80. ok im goin to try and switch the grey and black around cos currently have it other way around. and i have a crappy acer, but ill try cable select on both drives anyway.

#20

i switched the grey and black around and that didnt boot, i did cable select on both of them and that didnt work as well.
