Pioneer 111L. New DL issue. See log

So all was fine on my first 5 DVD DL backups using imageburn (and Nero for 5 SL’s.) The DL media I am using is Verbatim MKM 001.

Then I tried backing up another DL with Imgburn v2 and got the following messages depending on various tweaks I made on the VIDEO_TS folder.

ECC Block Boundary
I/O Device Error
Power Calibration Area Error.

So I transferred the VIDEO_TS folder to my wife’s PC and Nero burned it just fine on her BenQ dw1620.

Went back to my PC.

The Pio is showing as UDMA4 and is primary master. (Remember it was working fine so I don’t believe it is a cable or udma problem) I uninstalled Nero and Imgburn and reinstalled. Made no difference.

For jollies I ran it through DVD shrink (unshrunk and kept the layer break) and had it go to Nero. Here is the log:

Another Freaks member had the same problem as you it seems. Try what worked for him. Uninstall and reinstall you DVD drive. Also I don’t know if it makes a difference but usually your primary hard drive is attatched to your primary IDE port not your CD/DVD drives. I notice you have it backwards.

You know…

I’d be curious if that was it. But I no longer believe so. For one thing why would it work for 3 and a half days and then decide that ide placement was an issue? However… who know ?

What I ended up doing was going to the store and picked up a replacement. Best Buy had a LG GSA-H10L on sale.

Picked it up. Slapped it in. Same place on the cable. Ran the same file through it and into imgburn and voila… it finalized and is verifying as I type.

That’s the shortest period of time a drive has lasted for me. 3 and a half days. Time for RMA. And I think I need to pick up a good external enclosure for it.
