I take it you did not read my original post at all? the dvd burner is not functioning when an 80 pin cable is used but functions fine when a 40 pin cable is used.
With an 80 pin cable the burner won't even read a cd or dvd and will cause my pc to freeze. The burner is detected, DMA mode 4 is enabled and Windows says this device is working properly.
I noticed the drive attempts to read the disc but just stops spinning after a while causing my pc to freeze but the same disc can be read when I use a 40 pin cable.
