Mosty I have been very happy with my Pioneer 109D but recently I have been experiencing many failures when trying to burn files produced with DVD shrink to a Verbatim 16x -R DVD. I have been using the same settings as usual, where I specify a write speed of 8x.
I am using CDBurner xP Pro3, the operating system is Windows 2000.
Rather than having a successful write, the writing process just stops with an error message, something about an unexpected communications error. I notice when taking out the DVD that it seems to be very warm.
Has anyone else experienced this? I have burned many DVD's with no problems until now. Could this be a sign of the DVD drive overheating?
When I am doing the burning, the computer is dedicated to this, I even turn off my anti-virus software.
Another irritation I notice is that my Pioneer 109 cannot recognize the 16x speed of these DVD's, even though I have updated the firmware to a version that says it should be able to. I need to overwrite the recommended write speed in the CDBurner menu in order to choose 8x. Note that I am not trying to write at 16x, as I don't know if the Pioneer 109 can handle this.
Any help is appreciated!
