Pioneer 108 burned Kprobe scans of data discs

Hi guys, I have done some kprobe scan with my new DVR-108 drive. I updated the firmware to 1.14 (Nil). This is my first attempt at this so please forgive me if I do something stupid.

3.75GB Data discs burned with Nero 6.3.0.3

Kprobe was set to PI/PO SUM 8 ECC at Max read speed(start around 2x and end at around 5.9x

I didn’t bother doing a 4X of the Prodisc S03 since I thought the 6X results were acceptable to me.

Do you guys get the same sort of P1/P2 errors with your pioneer drive? It seems kind of high to me. Maybe its because its a data disc. I’m not sure.

I’ll post more of the same with RICOHJPNR01, RICOHJPNR02, and YUDEN000 later.

Here are more scans for data discs with 3.75GB of data burned with Nero 6.3.0.3

TDK 8X Spindle
RICOHJPNR02
Burned at 8X

Verbatim 4X Spindle
RICOHJPNR01
Burned at 8X

Fujifilm 8X Spindle
YUDEN000
Burned at 8X

The Taiyo Yuden does the best as expected. I was surprised that RICOHJPNR02 did worse then RICOHJPNR01. Please let me know if you are getting similar results for data discs.

Thanks

first dont scan at max the standard scan speed is 4X.

second get latest kprobe here http://upload.cdfreaks.com/KProbe2/KP2Setup242.exe

then scan discs again as you posted results dont realy mean anything like that.

Ok, thanks. I will retest with Kprobe 2.42 with 4x speed.

thats more like it, pis should be <280 so the cmc are a bit high, and the pifs should be <4 yours are ok.

also these no need to post the report only post the scan.

Ok thanks, acko but I got some interesting results for the TDK 8X Spindle I have. They are RICOHJPNR02. With the new version of Kprobe, the PI is really high compared to old Kprobe result at Max speed. I thought these were suppose to be good quality discs.

It seems that my Liteon 811 has issues scanning for PI errors for +R media. Even the Taiyo Yuden has 400+ PI. I guess I need to get a new drive to test DVD+R. Any suggestions?

Thanks

yes ricoh discs are very good in liteons & necs that i know of.but you burned these in a 108 which might not give as good results, also the RICOHJPNR02 dont seem to be as good as the RICOHJPN01`s.

use your 811s with hsok f/w for + and use you pionnier for -

The ProdiscS03 seem to win in this contest. I have a couple of Fuji-branded ProdiscS03 but their scan is much worse with my DVD-ROM (99.9% unreadable) and with the Pioneer DVR-108 itself (they are read at 12X only).

However some scans are fine at 4x. The virtual limit for read difficulties is 280 C1 and 32 C2 errors for DVD disks. Many times the C1 limit is trespassed, but the C2 is always < 5 (good).

Pioneer says, in its official site http://www.pioneer-eur.com, that the supported media at 4x is Fujifilm and TY if I’m not wrong. You may look at these to determine what’s the best media for your burner…

I get quite weird results burning RichoR02 disks in the pioneer 108.

I recommend burning them at 6 speed for best quality.
