Bringing this thread back to life...
I can't get AnyDVD to work AT ALL with PowerDVD XP 4 - it crashes out as soon as it tries to start playing the disc. WinDVD 5 Platinum will play the disc, but only after you set the PC's region (I was/am using region-free firmware for my primary drive).
My two drives:
Pioneer DVD-ROM DVD-106 using the 1.22 firmware (region-free patched) (YES I know it's not a recorder but it's a Pioneer therefore pertinent to the discussion)
Optorite DVD RW DD0201 using the 2.30 firmware (as is)
While AnyDVD is loaded (version 126.96.36.199 for the record) PowerDVD crashes out as soon as I try to play the test movie (Ocean's Eleven, retail disc, R2 UK). With AnyDVD unloaded, and DVD Genie running (as I had it before to assign a region to my drive) the film loads up fine. The same problem occurs with my DVD burner, even though that's not been touched firmware-wise.
Clues to the cause of what's obviously a conflict anybody?
