Hello,

Is there any software that I can use with my new NEC-2500 so that I can see the PI/PO Errors?

i cant believe you bought the 2500 there are much better choices these days and also much newer nec's

the ability to report pi/po errors is firmware depended and your drive firmware simply does not support it therfore no software will help , if its that important to you then youll have to get another dvd burner that supports it

Got it because it was cheap (39 bucks), and I do most of my burning on my set top recorder.

Just wanted something that I could check MIDs, occassionally copy and run tests.

Also, wanted something that could burn cd's faster.

Not that important to test the PI/PO's. Plus this drive can be flashed for DL.

Why would anyone need a better drive. I know there is speed 8x-16x, but I believe in slower burns anyway. 16x is overkill to me.

Looks like the new version of "CD Speed" will do the trick.

The 2500 will not report errors.

Yeah...

Just found that out after I downloaded the newest version of CD SPEED.

Does show me disc info and surface scan. Guess that will do...

The 2500 is a very picky reader. You can run a tansfer rate test in cdspeed, if there aren't any dips or waves then the disc should be at least a fair burn.

Also, the 2500/2510's are incredibal burners, i was really surprised after i bought my benq 1640 and scanned a few discs from the NEC. For 4x or overspeeding old media the NEC is damn good, for 8x it is pretty good depending on the brand.

Just another 2500 user that is dissapointed not to be able to check errors. Whatever.

The 2500 with Herrie firmware is on of the best drives ever. It is the only drive I own that will record my TDK/CMC almost perfect. For 8X media with out DL it's perfect.

Well against all odds my combo laptop drive works with ner cd/dvd speed. Well , now all i have to do is read about interpreting the results
