Photos/.avi's to dvd playable on dvd-player?

Greetings -

We have numerous .jpg and .avi files on the computer that we’d like to show friends & family.

Modern DVD player - Sony NS-700H

Rather than lug the computer and plug it into the tv, is it possible to create a DVD with the .jpg and/or .avi files on it, and play it through the DVD-player?

If so, what software (ideally free, but inexpensive shareware or commercial software is worth suggesting) is recommended?

Thanks kindly.

Check your manual for playback formats the player can read. I don’t know of any Sony DVD players that play AVI files.

What software do you have that will work with videos?
Nero? Even the OEM version?
For pictures you may want to consider this:

For AVIs you may consider AVStoDVD or DVD Flick.

The OEM version of Nero I have seems to require that the files are already in DVD-friendly format – no apparent provision for converting .avi to .bup, .vop, .ifo or what have you.

Does the OEM version contain Vision Express?

I use convertx2dvd works great. easy to use…

… but my boy’s does!

Looks promising … attempting a VCD as I type.

Thanks.
