Philips MC90 - why only single speed?

Hi all - well here goes for my first post.

I have a Philips MC90, i know i know i ought to do this via my PC but i am a poor student!

Anyway it says that it will copy CD’s at double speed and it does for the main, but when i put in a so called copy protected CD to copy it - it burns at only normal speed.

Can anyone tell me why this is?

But does it copy the other cd?
It might have a mechanism inside of the circuitry to purposelt do this.

I havent come across it yet myself, but from the picture it looks sowmehat nice. Always can use a nice stereo…

Sure it copies it - but it takes like 45 mins for a single CD!

Some it does at double speed - that is the problem working out which ones does what…
