Philips DVDRW885 Dual layer DVD-Writer

The Philips DVDRW885 drive supports the new Dual Layer DVD+R writing technlogy, allowing dual layer discs of 8.5Gb to be written. Philips has a long history for developing optical drives and lately has joined forces with BenQ for manufacturing and developing optical drives. The synergy that results seems to benefit both BenQ and Philips, in that BenQ has the production facilities, while Philips designs the chipset and electronic components as well as being on of the main DVD+R/RW developers.

:slight_smile: very nice review. can we expect a review of the NEC-2510A as well since that drive has been on the market for quite a while already AND is available in larger quantities? any ETA for the philips drive?
